PROJECT 171 · The film
PROJECT 171 — the mission and the road to UTMB
One minute of film, then the whole plan: what PROJECT 171 is, why 171 kilometres, and how a Norwegian trail runner works towards the UTMB finish line in Chamonix.
The mission
PROJECT 171 follows Fredrik Asche Kaada's path to the UTMB Mont-Blanc — 171 km and about 10,000 metres of climbing around the massif. The project shares everything openly: the training plan, the qualifying races, the kit, and the lessons, so other runners can follow the same road.
The path to UTMB
- 01Qualify. Earn Running Stones at UTMB World Series races and build a UTMB Index — enter the ballot for the Finals.
- 02Train. Follow the 16-week mountain plan built for the race's climbing, descending and time on feet.
- 03Race. Line up in Chamonix at the end of August 2026 and take on the full lap of Mont-Blanc.
